Nabari no Ou. "The King/Ruler of Nabari".
Basically #1, it's a ninja story but the setting is in our present time, and of course, in Japan. :D
Basically #2, it's about this kid named Rokujo Miharu who has the same seiyuu as shana-chan.o_O I HAD to mention that. Well, there is that distinct bratty streak in his voice, but it's reaaallly a male version. Haha, I was half-expecting him to sound like Shana-tan or something. Well, supposedly Kugimiya Rie also did FMA guy's voice but I didn't watch FMA, soooooooo....
Well, moving on #1, Miharu-kun is supposedly the er.. vessel for the great power called the shinrabanshou(森羅万象)! JWPCE defines this term as "all things in nature or the whole creation. So from this, we get the idea that it's a very powerful technique. Actually, in the anime (I haven't read the manga), they refer to this technique interchangeably as Shinrabanshou or Hijutsu (秘術). Hijutsu is defined by JWPCE as "secret art" or "the mysteries". So basically, Miharu-kun is the er.. vessel for the Hijutsu called Shinrabanshou.
Intermission #1: Don't get the wrong idea, I don't know Kanji. I just get this all from the very helpful JWPCE. Yeah~!
Moving on #2, I keep on hesitating at the vessel part because I don't really know if that's the right term to use. If you've watched/read any ninja-related thing before, you'd have noticed that they write their techniques in scrolls and all that. So, according to Thobari-sensei (another character in this series), the Shinrabanshou is a technique that isn't written on a scroll, and I just went on and got the idea that it's like written on Miharu-kun. Hm. I wonder where I got that idea? Probably from this:

Moving on #3. So, whenever there's a great power, there are those people who seek after it. And of course the people who try protect it... Classic anime plot. But, I still like it. Hahaha.. I want to introduce the characters, but I'm getting tired of typing, my shoulder has been hurting since this morning...
But the characters are cool. They're, well, what would be considered usual in the anime world, but sometimes, even usual cool can't stop being cool... if that made sense...
For it's genre, I guess it's okay.
There's nothing new, and it's not especially exciting. It has funny moments, just like most anime... But I love Miharu-kun's funniness, so...
Anyyywaaay #1... I think I should have more or less the same criteria for this one and VK... So, for music, this is definitely better. I especially like the OP. :D So yay for music~! ^_^
The voices also suit the characters... But I haven't read the manga, so I guess I can't really say much here. But I guess I'd also give this a yay~! ^_^
As for the art, this is one of those anime with kind of unproportioned body parts. They're really thin and all that, but it isn't bad at all. And that is just part of anime, I guess.. All in all, I do like the art, so, yay~! ^_^
As for story, I can't compare this to the manga, so this judgement is based solely on the anime, with no manga comparisons... Well, they love flashbacks. The flashbacks before the OP are quite lengthy... But I guess that's juz part of it all. I mean, duting the first few episodes of an anime, I guess they make it a point to give as much info out for those who may have missed the 1st ep or the 1st 2 eps, so that's forgivable. It also has these all-of-the-sudden moments, but that's typical of anime. Well, not just anime, actually. But it's definitely all good on that one. The only time these all-of-the-sudden moments are considered bad in my book is when it's as bad as the "Taiyou no Uta Movie" starring YUI. Now, that was really bad. But YUI sings well, even if she does have a bad case of the J-engrish syndrome...
Anyyywaaay #2... the story gets a yay too. ^_^
So, for Nabari, I guess it's a yay~! ^_^
Though that would be at the mid-portion of my yay~ range. Because it isn't original at all and it's not especially exciting. I'm just really inclined towards liking animes that involve cool fighting, supernatural powers, cool characters, and nice art. :D And funny characters too. :D
So, I guess that's it for Nabari for now... I'll probably go do a fansub comparison once I get my hands on the animanda version. But VK comparison comes first, so I better get my hands on the Ureshii HD version soon.
Ja~

Words of wisdom: Anime, Nabari no Ou, Ninja, Rokujo Miharu
